CIF Peripheral Model - SimpleTimer

Overview

This tutorial demonstrates to how construct a Peripheral Model and how to write the code

that models the device behavior.

The device is a 32 bit general purpose timer. The details are given in the specification below.

This tutorial demonstrates:

• Creating a CIF Peripheral Device project

• Setting up the Fabric Module Definition (.fmx) file

• Setting up instance data

• Configuring the initialization function

• Connecting the peripheral device to a StdBus net

• Reading and writing events

• Scheduling callbacks

• Instantiating the device in a platform

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes:

 Comet 5 is installed and open.

 Either the Microsoft Visual C++ compiler or the gcc compiler is installed

 You are familiar with creating and navigating a workspace. These procedures are

covered in the preceding Hello World example

 You are familiar with creating a CIF project. This is covered in the Simple VSP

tutorial above.
